What is EN1A Bright Steel Bar?
Bright steel bar typically consists of a carbon steel alloy with the hot rolled finish provided by the steel mill increased through drawing, peeling, or grinding. Improved machining, less waste during component manufacture, improved physical and mechanical qualities, and improved dimensional tolerances and straightness are only a few of the benefits realized.
In particular, where complex drilling and machining operations are required, EN1A is a very popular grade of low carbon-manganese free cutting steel that is best suited for the fabrication of repetitive turned components, such as nuts, bolts, hydraulic fittings, and studs.
A non-leaded, re-sulphur, free-machining steel is EN1A. This free-cutting steel is of the highest quality. It can be machined quite well. It is appropriate for electroplating and case hardening. We can offer you free cutting steel in cold drawn bar form in both black and brilliant finishes.
Applications of En1A Bright Steel Bar
- EN1A steels are appropriate for uses where excellent machinability is a top priority. They are therefore utilized for the quick production of finely finished components that won’t be subjected to high stresses in service, such as light-duty studs, cycle components, and numerous intricate parts for textile and printing machinery, on single or multiple spindle automatic lathes and capstan lathes.
- This type of steel should not be used for hollow parts that might be subjected to internal pressure that could create wall stresses that are dangerously close to the transverse yield stress because it cannot be relied upon to have good transverse characteristics.
- Although case hardening is possible, this steel is not advised for use in general case hardening operations or in applications where the hardened case would be subject to significant impact during use.
The Advantages Of EN1A Bright Steel Bars Are:
- Steel is made better in size and section when it is cold drawn, and tighter tolerances result in lower machining losses.
- Reduced surface machining and improved quality due to improved steel surface finish.
- Improved Straightness which Facilitates automatic bar feeding in CNC.
- By enhancing mechanical properties, hardening may not be as necessary.
- Higher machining feeds, longer tool lives, faster speeds, and better-machined finishes are all made possible by increased machinability and productivity.
What are the types of EN1A Bright Steel Bars?
- Bright Round Bars
- Bright Rectangular Bars
- Bright Hex Bars
Bright Round Bars
- Extreme toughness is built into a brilliant circular bar with intensive heat treatment. Other elements can be simply added to the alloy to improve its qualities.
- The grades 201, 202, 304, 309, 316, 316L, 316Ti, 321, and the 400 series are the most widely used round bar grades.
Bright Rectangular Bars
- Rectangular bars are excellent for creating small machining components because of their great resistance to heat and outside influences.
- Before being shaped for machining, rectangular bars of stainless steel undergoes heat treatment, cold drawing, annealing, and tempering.
Bright Hex Bars
- Hex bars are typically used for producing small fasteners and threaded parts such as nuts, valves, hose ends, fasteners, hex bolts, etc. that have a hexagonal shape.
- Due to their dependable strength and longevity, hex bars are widely employed in all fastening applications.
